ELECTRONICS DESIGN
The electronics design team of GESTLABS was born in 2014 inside the Green & High-Tech District of Monza Brianza. It includes the assets and knowledge of SEM S.r.l. With the aim of focusing the design and engineering services of the most advanced technologies in the electronics field.
GESTLABS IS CHARACTERISED BY:
THE EXPERTISE AREAS OF OUR DESIGN TEAM ARE:
-
Ability of turnkey project (HW, SW, Mechanics, System Integration)
-
Know-how in the industrialisation process of electronic and electromechanical devices
-
Ability to develop innovative solutions to meet the specific needs of the clients
-
Total engagement to meet the Quality goals
-
Design and development of electronic devices (FPGA, ASIC sheets, etc.)
-
Hardware and Software development for the validation and testing of electronic devices
-
Lab activity for the validation of electronic devices and Failure Analysis
THE REALISATION OF THE PROJECTS INVOLVES THE PROTOTYPES CREATION
Hardware design
The electronics design starts from the analysis of product requirements and from the elaboration of technical specifications.
After the preliminary study, our team creates the product documentation and follows with tests and certifications of product.
Then, there is the selection of electronic components and of suitable materials to create the project goals.
For the creation of integrated printed boards (FPGA, ASIC), VHDL and VERILOG languages are used as cutting-edge simulating tools (MODELSim). The circuit block and detailed diagrams are created with the symbol’s creation and the library management according to the standards and/or client’s needs.

-
PCB/Board layout design
The printed board designers know the techniques to implement electronic digital and analogical sheets (PCB).
They use the indications resulting from the construction analysis (DFF – Design For Fabrication), the assembly analysis (DFM – Design For manufacturing) and testing analysis (DFT – Design For Test).
They have a great experience in the creation of physical symbols and in the library management. They use the guidelines of IPC Standards (Reference: MTC-009 – IPC Designer Certification Course).
-
Thermal simulation
The thermal simulation allows to highlight the problems of performance, functioning, and reliability of products over time.
Our team performs an accurate analysis of the thermal behaviour of devices or their parts starting from identified geometrical models.
We proceed with the sinks sizing and the use of cooling systems starting from a preventive analysis of the thermal problems.
-
Electrical simulation
The electrical simulation is adopted in the preventive check of signals quality. The simulation techniques of electrical signals are necessary to understand the performing limits of the sheets, to improve the signals’ routing, and to find the best technological solution for the printed boards.

Software design
We take care of with our designer team
The designer team takes advantage from a consolidated experience in the use of the most suitable programming languages for the project (C, C++, PYTHON) in Windows or Linux environment from a functional point of view and for the gate number.
The work method is characterised by a collaborative approach with the client, starting from the specification’s definition up to the code writing.
Mechanical design
The mechanical design has the following project goals
Elaborate the product concept to meet the functionality, ergonomics, and balance requirements;
Make the product easy and economical to build;
Satisfy the European and International Standards concerning the use of materials, the electrical safety, and the screening levels due to electromagnetic interferences.

Re-engineering
The “Life Management” and “Value Engineering” services
They meet the need to manage the updates, the evolutions of the product over time, and to optimise the quality of the project through the performance of the following steps:
Performing the hardware and software problems analysis and finding a solution;
Managing the updates in case of components’ end of life;
Integrating the reviews of the product or the productive process to optimise the costs, to introduce new functions/requirements or to respect new regulations.
